Research

Moving to india is a complex project and if we add in the laziness we have gotten used to through the on demand services available in the US, it makes it much more daunting. I have started thinking through the complexities involved in asset sales, transfers, education, tax complications etc.

Google was of great help in finding many resources that helped me understand the complexities involved in such a transfer. Some of the resources I enjoyed are below..
R2IClub had tons of info related to the overall return to india process

ReturnedToHyderabad and WyraBlog were more focussed towards the Hyderabad specific items.

Its a GO !!!!

The call went as expected, I was satisfied with what HR has proposed as a package. The additional items, brought up by the HR manager, gave me the confidence that they understand the complexity of my move and are ready to help me deal with any surprises along the way.

After a 15 min call with the wife, I felt that it was time to announce the decision to friends and family. Since its the memorial day long weekend , we decided to take it easy and enjoy the weekend before pulling our hairs out in planning and executing the move.

Time to call my friends and family to inform them about the decision..For those of you reading the blog already, pass on the message..

To Go or Not to Go ?

Thursday, May 26th.. lazy day .. started with a routine nicotine fix supplemented by a concoction of cheapo-bi-lo brand coffee and 2% milk. . Today is the day I call HR to finalize the job offer and wrap up the final details about the move back to Hyderabad, India.

Wife and I had spent the whole week deconstructing [ atleast we thought we were ] the Pro's and Con's of continuing in US vs returning to India. We felt that neither US nor Hyderabad, India had a distinct advantage... they both had their pro's and con's .. finally.. proximity to immediate family has tilted the decision in Hyderabad's favor.

Watch this space for more..
